Exercises That Help You Stay FitWe all need to exercise in order to keep our bodies fit. There are many types of exercises to choose from such as aerobics, strength training, team games and various others. Choose what you have an interest in and what fits your lifestyle and health.

When you enjoy the form of exercise you are more likely to stick to it and do it on a regular basis. It is a good idea to find several different exercises to vary your workout to prevent burnout and to help with overall body workout.

Aerobic exercises are great for burning calories. Aerobic exercises include swimming, running, step exercises, rowing, skiing or cycling. There are many benefits to doing aerobic exercises such as reducing stress, and preventing heart disease.

Aerobic exercise is anything that gets your heart pumping and increases your oxygen intake. When you participate in aerobic exercise you repeatedly move the large muscles of your body such as those in your arms, legs and hips.

When our bodies are fit we can use oxygen more efficiently. Aerobic exercise also increases the diameter and also the number of small blood vessels. When you do aerobic exercise on a regular basis you release endorphins, which are your body’s natural painkillers. Aerobic exercise can reduce your risk for coronary artery diseases, reduces your risk of developing high blood pressure, increases HDL cholesterol and decreases the concentration of LDL cholesterol (the bad one).

Aerobic exercise can also lower your blood glucose level if you have diabetes and can also help manage your weight, and strengthen your heart muscle. It can also improve your blood flow to every part of your body, and relieve chronic muscle pain and also the pain of fibromyalgia. Aerobic exercise can make your mood improve and can help build strong bones.

Strength training is using weights to tone your muscles in order to stay fit. Weight training needs to be done slowly to avoid strains. It is important to warm up first before doing any form of strength training.

If you suffer from cardiovascular disease, have a family history of coronary heart disease before age 55, have high cholesterol (> 200), are a smoker, are extremely obese, have chronic muscular or joint issues, are pregnant, have had recent surgery, arthritis, are a diabetic or an asthmatic or have led a sedentary lifestyle for a long time you should consult your doctor before doing any exercise especially strength training.

Team games are fun to participate in and can really help to motivate you to get your daily exercise. They also allow for socialization.

Other exercises that help you to stay fit are yoga, karate, judo, skating, and dancing.
