If you have asthma that is triggered by air pollutants or humidity, be sure to walk at times of the day that these factors are less bothersome. Walking in the morning is shown to improve energy throughout the day, and it gets you out before it gets too hot. Even with low stress exercises such as walking, be sure to stay hydrated and keep water with you, as well as any breathing medication you may need in case of an emergency.


Sometimes a good run is necessary to clear your mind and burn excess energy. Before running, make sure you have stretched thoroughly and take the same safety precautions you would on a walk. Concentrate on breathing through your nose instead of your mouth, as that will help your breathing remain regular and prevent becoming short of breath. Wear sturdy, supportive shoes made for running.


Yoga is great because it focuses on relaxing and deep breathing is at the foundation. Don’t fall into the trap of thinking that yoga is not “real exercise” or challenging. Yoga can be very strenuous and injury is possible if done incorrectly. Be very careful when trying new stretches, making sure you understand exactly what motions to make. If you are a beginner, it is best to start with an instructor, to make sure that you are implementing the correct technique
