Bed Wedge – Foam Wedge Bed Pillow 12″ x 24″ ‘x 24″ Good for Acid Reflux, Snoring. Comes w/ white Pillow Cover by Duro-Med Reviews
Review by Elvisettey:
I have severe acid reflux, and, even with prescription and OTC medicines, I was still waking up almost every night of the week with miserable, choking acid symptoms.
The first night I got this was the first full night of sleep I’d had in ages. And, ever since getting this pillow two-plus months ago, I have had not one single night of acid-awakening. Not one! The difference is night and day, truly amazing.
An unexpected benefit is that the solid wedge pillow gives a great deal of back support; I’ve noticed a difference in upper back pain in particular since getting the pillow. It’s quite firm, so it keeps your back in a firm line.
This isn’t a soft, cushy pillow and isn’t meant to be, so do be aware of that. But it wouldn’t work if it was. I repeat, this has been a tremendous health benefit for me, in more ways than one.
Also, it’s much easier than elevating your bed with casters, and it’s portable.
Review by bezoarrn:
I am so pleased with this item. I am a large person with a bad back and even worse neck. I was afraid this would compress flat, losing the benefits of the wedge shape. I was also afraid my back and neck couldn’t handle the incline. Not so! It is very firm but still confortable, giving support to both neck and back. It’s very sturdy. It is wide enough to allow me to sleep comfortably and long enough to give me room to put my contour pillow at the top and still have head room. No snoring or reflux since night one. The pillow case is soft and fits tight. Delivery was very fast. I would recommend this to everyone, unless you are looking for a soft, cushy, squishy thing just to sit up in bed.

Tell Me What to Eat If I Have Acid Reflux: Nutrition You Can Live With
Heartburn isn’t just a minor inconvenience–it is very painful and can inhibit your sleep, affect your work, and make you feel miserable. Of course, if you are one of the 60 million Americans who get heartburn at least once a month, you already know this.
Heartburn happens when the lining of the esophagus comes in contact with too much stomach juice, which can produce a burning pain and injure the esophagus. There is a valve that connects the end of the esophagus with the stomach, which normally functions to keep the stomach acid where it belongs–in the stomach. But in people with frequent heartburn, this valve relaxes too frequently, allowing the stomach acid to splash up into the esophagus.
Tell Me What to Eat If I Have Acid Reflux begins with an overview of acid reflux. Readers get a detailed yet completely understandable explanation of how and why this condition begins–an explanation that is based on the latest medical information. The majority of the book is dedicated to all the ways that diet and lifestyle can bring relief and decrease heartburn, including an entire section with specific tips and recipes to help you during the worst times of the year for heartburn sufferers–the holiday season.
Tell Me What to Eat If I Have Acid Reflux offers dozens of healthful, practical, tasty recipe options for foods you never thought you could enjoy again, plus heartburn-savvy tips on navigating the supermarket, cooking in your kitchen, and eating out.

I cannot believe a previous reviewer mentions that this book doesn’t tell you what to avoid for acid reflux. There is an entire chapter dedicated to the subject not to mention a couple of chapters that are all about answering common Q & A on acid reflux in general and diet and acid reflux. Plus chapters on eating out and getting through the holidays. My gastroenterologist gave me a copy of this book and told me that it was the best and easiest read on the subject and he was right!

I have just been diagnosed with Acid Reflux and realised that I had to make drastic changes to my diet and lifestyle. I bought Tell Me What To Eat If I Have Acid Reflux and have found it very informative. Elaine Magee covers everything I needed to know and more. The recipes are useful as are hints such as chewing gum after meals and raising the head of the bed. I also didn’t know what I should and shouldn’t eat, but I do now and it has helped immensely. It is also great to know that I’m not alone and that there are millions other suffers out there.

Whether you suffer from occasional heartburn or full-blown GERD, this book is your quintessential guide to living a healthier and happier life. It provides a perfect blend of facts and accessible insight for improving your quality of life. The book is presented in two very comprehensive sections. The first part deals primarily with the technical aspects of this debilitating disease. You’ll have no trouble learning all there is to know and what you can do to ensure accurate diagnosis and successful treatment. This first section alone could be a bestseller given the millions of people who struggle with any form of this disease. The second part of the book is equally remarkable in its presentation. It offers easily followed, delicious recipes that have been created specifically to abate GERD. Best of all, most of the ingredients are already in your cupboard! Any of the appetizers, soups, salads, entrees and desserts will satisfy even the most discerning gourmet. Each recipe includes a brief introduction, concise directions and nutritional analysis. Banish the bland and start eating your way to health. If you thought you were doomed to a painful existence, and a diet of bread and water, this book will change your mind and your life.

I have heartburn and find myself unconciously avoiding the foods that make me feel bad. I haven’t been able to find any recipes worth making in other books and websites. They’re either boring or just not appetizing. I just bought this book, but it’s easy to follow and actually lists foods I should avoid and tells me about other treatments besides medication (which I hate to take). So far I’ve tried only one of the recipes (oven fried chicken), but it was delicious. Even my husband (who does not have heartburn) loved it, as did my two kids. If the other recipes are this good, this book will find a permanent place in my kitchen!

Prilosec OTC Acid Reducer, Delayed-Release Tablets – 42 ea Reviews
Review by Jim Turner:
This is one of the top money-making drugs of all time, and for good reason. It works. I used to have pretty bad acid reflux. I would chew Pepcid Complete (which is an antacid drug combined with a base to neutralize acid) after every meal, as if they were after-dinner mints. Now, I just take Prilosec once a day, and now I almost never suffer from heartburn, and when I do, it is not as bad as it used to be. Trust me on this. This drug works differently than Pepcid or Zantac (I have a Ph.D in biology), so if those drugs don’t work for you, don’t be afraid to give this a try.
Review by James Koenig:
For those that suffer with frequent heartburn or have frequent instances of gastric reflux, Prilosec is a literal lifesaver.
Stomach acid is strong stuff (pH of 1), and belongs in the stomach, not in the esophagus, where it can cause burning of the esophageal lining (hertburn). If this happens frequently, the esophagus can be badly damaged. Gastro-esophageal Reflex Disease (GERD)can also cause severe erosive damage to the teeth if stomach acid is burped into the mouth frequently. The tooth enamel is literally eroded away, and teeth become very sensitive and permanently damaged.
To save your teeth and esophagus, Prilosec has come to the rescue. Prilosec is a former prescription product in a class of medicines called proton pump inhibitors. This means that the effect of Prilosec is to decrease stomach acid production. This is also beneficial for treatment of stomach ulcers, which need a minimal acid environment to heal.
Prilosec is taken once a day for 14 days in a typical course (thus, it is generally packaged in groups of 14 tablets). Most people have considerable relief beyond the 14 day course. It is not a product to take for immediate (within minutes) treatment of heartburn. The insert on the box states it takes at least a day to 4 days to reach its full effect. Each person will vary in terms of relief and how long the relief lasts.
Prilosec is a very good medicine for the treatment of GERD. It is in the same class as Prevacid, so if Prilosec gives you undesirable side effects, try Prevacid and the side effects may be lessened.

How to Stop Heartburn: Simple Ways to Heal Heartburn and Acid Reflux Reviews
Review by D. R. Schryer:
For decades I suffered from severe bouts of acid reflux and heartburn several times each week. A few years ago I began taking a daily supplement of 1,000 mg of chelated magnesium for another seemingly-unrelated ailment. To my pleasant surprise the supplemental magnesium not only cured the ailment for which I was taking it, it also completely stopped my episodes of acid reflux and heartburn. I have since learned that acid reflux is caused by stomach spasms which cause acid (which healthy stomachs are designed by nature to tolerate and utilize) to be ejected into the esophagus which is not designed to be exposed to stomach acid and burns when it is so exposed. Magnesium is a natural relaxant — as well as a natural antacid — and, therefore, it helps prevent the stomach spasms which are the root cause of acid reflux and accompanying heartburn. I am a research chemist, not a physician, so I cannot tell you to take chelated magnesium as I did. I can, however, report to you the beneficial effects which I experienced from daily supplementation with chelated magnesium. Those interested in learning of the many other benefits of magnesium — including prevention and mitigation of heart arrhythmia, high blood pressure, asthma, osteoporosis, and diabetes — should acquire and read Dr. Carolyn Dean’s excellent book The Miracle of Magnesium.
Review by Leon Fletcher:
One major problem faced by many—perhaps most—patients is trying to understand the jargon their doctors spout at them. But that hurdle is not perpetuated by Dr. Anil Minocha in his truly superior book HOW TO STOP HEARTBURN. Subtitled “Simple Ways to Heal Hearburn and Acid Reflux,” this book indeed delivers what it promises. It’s written in plain English with medical terms and techniques kept to a minimumn; nearly all are explained clearly, simply. Example: in the very first sentnce, Dr. Minocha writes that what doctors call “gastroesophageal reflux disease” is what real people call “heartburn.”The book is comprehensive; the index lists hundreds of topics from “abominal pain” to “Zyban,” a drug that “reduces the desire to smoke.” (“Smoking is a major contributor to the development of (heartburn).” (page 228) The 17 chapters and four appendixes cover such diverse topics as the causes of hearburn, how physicians diagnosis it, finding remedies that work, related illnesses such as peptic ulcers and some hernias, when surgery is needed—even alternative treatments such as yoga, juice therapy, acupressure, and other offbeat remedies.A major section of the book covers “Lifestyle Changes that Work”—eating, sleeping, weight loss, stress reduction, and more.A glossary explains many key words, including barium swallow, dosha, manometry, proton pump inhibitor, etc.Should you think you don’t need this book, consider these facts that Dr. Minocha presents: hearburn “is one of the most common diseases in North America;” “about 55 million (20% of our population) suffer from it;” Americans “spend over billion a year on over-the-counter heartburn medications.” Yet one study documented that more than half of hearburn sufferers who took antacids “for more than ten years developed serious illnesses.”The author is recognized worldwide as an authority of what he’s written about. Among his very imnpressive credentials is his being Chief of the Division of Gastroenterology for the School of Medicine, Southern Illinois University. The book’s last chapter is encouraging. It points out that research for new remedies is extensive. One the horizon are new medications “to block acid secretion;” surgery that “does not require an incision;” “genetic advances;” and more. But don’t want: if you suffer from heartburn, seek professional help NOW—and one of the best places to start is by reading this book.

Why Stomach Acid is Good for You: Natural Relief from Heartburn, Indigestion, Reflux and GERD Reviews
Review by G. Shane:
A great, great book. I stopped taking my Prevacid before I finished the second chapter. Dr. Wright exposes how the medical profession treats the problem of a little bit of stomach acid in the wrong place (your esophagus) by almost completely neutralizing your stomach acid with powerful drugs. But without stomach acid, you can’t absorb nutrients properly, and you can’t prevent bacteria growth in your stomach! Thank God I found this book, or I would have taken those pills forever, and my symptoms weren’t even that bad. I needed to change a few eating habits, not get rid of stomach acid forever. I was honestly taken aback that doctors could be so ignorant of the importance of stomach acid for your health, and so willing to casually prescribe a powerful (and profitable) pill to simply make the symptoms go away without treating the cause.
Review by :
Hard to believe, but true – at least in my particular case and, in the authors’ opinion, about 90% presenting with indigestion.
After being warned by a pediatrician about the high incidence of stomach cancer among patients taking acid suppressors, I scoured the health food stores and web looking for alternative therapies until finally finding Dr. Wright’s & Lenard’s book.
They explained in detail how the stomach and, by extension, the whole body, are severely compromised by low stomach acid. The doctors expose the drug companies – who have known since the 1800s that the symptoms of low stomach acid mimic and are much more common than those attributed to too much acid – for the greedy pushers that they are.
The doctors warn of an impending stomach cancer epidemic and other related health problems if the drugs that are currently dispensed like candy (and are amazingly available over the counter) continue unfettered.
In my own personal experience, I have been under treatment for GERD and heartburn for over 10 years with typical emphasis on acid reduction, e.g., Prilosec, Nexium, and a lot of Rolaids. I was off drugs the same day I received this book and feel much better by taking over-the-counter supplemental acid and pepsin.
No doubt the drug companies will attack the truth here. There is a lot of money to be made by selling expensive products that at once reduce and yet sustain the indigestion symptoms daily until the patient eventually dies.
This information is a lot like that of Australian medical researcher Dr. Barry Marshall, the man who was ridiculed but later vindicated for discovering that the cause of many ulcers is a helicobacter pylori bacterial infection. While initially controversial, this book will hopefully similarly end up changing the dependence on dangerous acid-reducing drugs and save lives.
