The initial phase of yeast infection starts mostly with digestive problems like gas, flatulence and bloating. These symptoms occur during the stage of conversion of the yeast into the fungal form. If it is not checked at this point, it creates fissures in the walls of the intestines to permeate and spread thorough out the body.

Candida symptoms can potentially change from superficial infections to chronic skin infections like psoriasis and ultimately become systemic and affect the entire body including the brain.

The presence of Candida is kept to its minimum levels by friendly bacteria. The factors that contribute to the growth of Candida include antibiotic overuse, diet that contains high amounts of sugar, carbohydrates and acidic foods.

Conventional medications only provide temporary relief from superficial symptoms like vaginitis, (inflammation of the vagina) skin rashes and gastric problems. They simply kill the yeast once but do not address to the basic problem. As Candida is always present in the body in its benign form, the moment it gets another opportunity, it starts growing and transforms again into its infective fungal form.

Have you ever wanted a challenge in your life? How about rock climbing? You can have both a challenge and a good workout all in one.

What is rock climbing? The name seems to say it all. It is basically climbing up rock formations like mountains of varying sizes. Rock climbing is also done on man-made rock walls.

Rock climbing tests your skills, fitness level and focus. It is you versus nature. Even on a rock wall you are pitting your skills against the wall and others in competition.

Many people have taken to using rock walls in gyms and facilities dedicated to rock climbing. You can get started in a rock wall gym with a capable instructor and the right equipment. The benefit of the gym setting is that you get a chance to get a feel for the sport without hanging from a rock face outdoors. If you like it, you can continue to participate indoors and try outdoor rock climbing as well.

Wisdom teeth are not some magical teeth in your mouth giving you smarts; they are the last set of molars to erupt in your mouth. This eruption of your wisdom teeth usually occurs from age 16 to 20. As is usually the case with things that come last, there is often not enough room for them. The teeth that came in before them often overcrowd wisdom teeth. Wisdom teeth can even become impacted. Impacted wisdom teeth are those that become trapped beneath the gum tissue by the other teeth in the mouth or by the bone. The individual may feel discomfort or swelling when they have impacted wisdom teeth.

Even if your wisdom teeth come in they may only emerge partway through the gum or come in crooked. The American Dental Association recommends that if wisdom teeth are impacted or causing crowding they can be removed more easily before age 20 than if they are removed later in life. An oral surgeon can remove wisdom teeth by general anesthesia, or by using a local anesthesia such as Novocain.

Psoriatric Arthritis How to Diagnose and Treat

Psoriatic arthritis is a chronic inflammatory condition that affects joints and other tissues. It is one of the over 100 conditions that falls under the umbrella diagnosis of arthritis.

Psoriatic arthritis leads to joint construction and complications which can be significantly debilitating for the sufferer. However, in the recent past, research has led to several treatment options which allow the patient to live more comfortable lives.

As in the case of any illness or condition, it is first necessary to obtain the correct diagnosis. Because arthritis is such a generic term that encompasses illnesses and diseases which affect the joints, doctors must be very diligent in their diagnostic procedures in order to differentiate psoriatic arthritis from any of the other over 100 conditions. Some of the inflammatory diseases of the joints, such as a gout or Lupus, can be caused by dietary allergies and not necessarily linked to arthritis.

We all hate that double-chin that creeps up on is in mid-life….but, is there anything (besides surgery) we can do about it?

Here’s what I’ve found:

1) Lose 10 or 15 pounds. “The single best way to get rid of a double chin is to lose weight,” says Robert Kotler, M.D., a facial cosmetic surgeon and clinical instructor in surgery at the University of California, Los Angeles. “Lots of people come to my office wanting cosmetic surgery. But if they just take off some excess weight, the problem usually diminishes to the point where they don’t need any more help.

2) Get cropped. Long hair draws eyes to your neck–precisely what you want to avoid. Pageboy cuts that curl under the chin are the worst. “The rule is to keep it short, at or above the jawline,” says Kathleen Walas, fashion and beauty director for New York Citybased Avon Products and author of Real Beauty . . . Real Women.
