What is ADD?

ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) is a diagnosed disorder which affects concentration, attention span and the ability to focus on the task at hand.

ADHD (Attention Deficit Disorder with Hyperactivity) is usually much easier to identify. Apart from their difficulties with concentration and memory, children and adults with ADHD often have associated behavioral problems in class, at home and in the workplace, due to their impulsive behavior and hyperactivity. (For safe and effective treatment for ADHD, see Focus ADHD Formula.)

Children and adults with ADD (without hyperactivity) often go un helped and undiagnosed. They may be very intelligent people, but because of their concentration and memory problems they perform poorly at school or college and seldom reach their full potential.

They often feel listless and can lack motivation and energy because of their constant struggle to concentrate and focus on their work. Sometimes they can even develop depression, because of their inability to achieve and negative feedback from those around them.

The medical and behavioral side effects of ADD medications such as Ritalin and Adderall have many parents searching for natural alternatives for their children. While traditional medications can be effective, the risks are many, and reactions differ from child to child. As parents become disillusioned with prescription ADD medications or simply decide to try natural alternatives first, more and more are turning to natural ADD supplements. And as more natural medications are developed, more is known about the ingredients that are most effective in treating the symptoms of ADD.

Ginko Biloba is one of the best-known Natural Remedies for ADD. It helps to increase neurotransmitter levels and blood flow to the brain, which aids the brains ability to focus. One of the most positive qualities of Ginko Biloba is the tendency of its effects to become permanent, which eventually renders continued use unnecessary. This quality is emblematic of many homeopathic ingredients.

Determining whether a child has enough symptoms of ADD and whether child ADHD treatment is required is a tricky task. This is especially so since the problem is more psychological than physical and there is no standard battery of medical tests that can be conducted that will result in a report that can unequivocally recommend ADD treatment.

There are many ADD diagnostic techniques that are available on the Internet to help you identify whether your child is at risk or is already suffering from ADD. These tools are extremely helpful in enabling you to understand the reasons of certain behaviors that you may be observing in your child. None of the tests available on the Internet are supposed to be understood as self-diagnosis tools and should only be used to aid in deciding whether to seek medical attention or not.

What is ADHD?

Imagine living in a fast-moving kaleidoscope, where sounds, images, and thoughts are constantly shifting. Feeling easily bored, yet helpless to keep your mind on tasks you need to complete.

Distracted by unimportant sights and sounds, your mind drives you from one thought or activity to the next. Perhaps you are so wrapped up in a collage of thoughts and images that you don’t notice when someone speaks to you.

For many people, this is what it’s like to have Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, or ADHD. They may be unable to sit still, plan ahead, finish tasks, or be fully aware of what’s going on around them.

To their family, classmates or coworkers, they seem to exist in a whirlwind of disorganized or frenzied activity. Unexpectedly–on some days and in some situations–they seem fine, often leading others to think the person with ADHD can actually control these behaviors.

As a result, the disorder can affect the person’s relationships with others in addition to disrupting their daily life, consuming energy, and diminishing self-esteem.

There are myriads of testimonials available on the Internet as well as in print about the efficacy of natural remedies on practically all diseases and ADD is no exception. Indisputably, the base elements of almost all the drugs are from natural resources. Whereas Homoeopathy too forms a part of natural remedies available to cure symptoms of adult attention deficit disorder, the purpose of this article is to focus only on herbal and natural remedies as part of the adult ADD medication regime.

Herbal remedies are based on the belief that the causes behind symptoms of adult attention deficit disorder are diet, allergies, food intolerances, low muscle tone, anxiety, depression, family problems, poor discipline and at times other forms of illness.

What is ADD after all? Apart from the hyperactive behavioral symptoms, ADD is characterized by symptoms that hamper the ability of a person to concentrate and focus on daily routine tasks. The experts of herbal remedies contend that the psycho-stimulant drugs prescribed by the conventional system of treating ADD are harmful and addictive. Doctors and psychiatrics are known for prescribing drugs like Ritalin, Concerta, Adderall that expose ADD patients to risks of addiction and harmful side effects.

Going back to school after the summer break can be difficult and rough for any child, but it’s often especially more so for kids dealing with ADHD and ADD.

Parents who are cognizant of this can do something to make the transition to the more structured life of the classroom as smooth as possible. It is best not to wait until the first day of school to address your child’s needs.

Was your child off of ADHD/ADD medications during the summer break? If so, you may want to restart treatment a week or two before school starts to get the child back into the routine of taking medicine each day.

Covering and handling all of your bases now will make for an easier and better school year, ease the transition period, and assure that your childs needs are being met.

Up to 7% of all children are affected

The role of vitamins cannot be denied in the proper growth and development of children. We all study the issues and problems that specific vitamin deficiency can cause and probably have learnt that vitamin A is good for the eyes, deficiency in vitamin C causes scurvy and deficiency in vitamin B causes beriberi. But not many of us know that a vitamin deficiency can cause many other issues as well.

There are some studies that show that adequate amounts of vitamin B6 or pyridoxine are required to allow for normal brain development in children. Vitamin B ensures that brain chemicals like serotonin, dopamine and norepinephrine are synthesized so that normal development of the brain can occur. A study proved that pyridoxine is more helpful than the most common stimulant that is used for brain disorders in certain cases. However, the issue is that these results were no significant and have not been replicated enough for it to be considered standard ADD treatment.

Treating ADD and ADHDIncrease Brain Function Naturally, Don’t Medicate & Mask the Symptoms

With summer vacation more than half over, the start of the new school year is quickly approaching. As anxious parents start the preparations for getting their children back-to-school, the parents of children with learning disabilities cope with the added pressure of a potentially rocky transition from an easy summer schedule to the structured school environment.

This transition can be very difficult for children diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) because they often have tremendous difficulty behaving in a structured environment, performing well academically and even simply getting schoolwork completed.

The hardest part for children with learning disorders like ADD and ADHD is that they genuinely want to be able to focus, do their work and learn without distraction like their peers, but it is simply too hard for them to achieve on their own.

In many cases, these children become extremely frustrated with learning because regardless of the effort they put forth, they oftentimes cannot stay focused or retain the necessary information.
