Have you ever desired the skin of your youth back again? Well, science has developed a process that says you can restore elasticity and firmness that has been lost to your skin. It is the science of fraxel laser therapy.

As we age, so does our skin. It is constantly bombarded by free radicals just like the internal organs of our body. Free radicals come from environmental sources (pollution, the sun), smoking, stress, food and other places. For the skin, free radical damage means that skin loses its elasticity.

Elasticity is its ability to stay tight and toned. Special fibers in the second layer of skin, the dermis, form a lattice network that strengthens skin. These are two proteins called collagen and elastin. Weaknesses in that network can lead to wrinkles and other conditions like age spots.

Now, no one wants to develop wrinkles. And, we certainly don’t want to look old before our time. Some people will inherit the type of skin that stays tight as they age and others will show signs of wrinkling. It’s the luck of the draw, but now there is fraxel laser therapy to even the odds.

Winter is here and the frost is not only nipping at your nose but the whole face. Fortunately, with a facial skin care routine that meets your exact skin care needs you can be on your way to healthy, radiant skin tone.

* Stings or burns when skin-care products are used
* Is easily irritated
* Sometimes appears red and inflamed
* Feels itchy, dry, rough and flaky

Facial skin care for dry skin:

Regular bath soaps clean well but are powerfully alkaline and irritating for both dry and sensitive skin. Clear soaps containing glycerin and alcohol may also be too drying. So, as an alternative of soap, dermatologists suggest a soap-free, sensitive skin cleansers. If your skin is very dry or sensitive, you may need to alternate a washable lotion with a sensitive-skin bar. After cleansing dry skin, apply a moisturizer that is light, hypoallergenic, preservative-free, all-purpose and water based. For extremely dry skin, moisturize with petroleum jelly or an oil-based lotion with 20 percent urea. After cleansing sensitive skin, apply a light, hypoallergenic, fragrance-free moisturizer, like Eucerin. To check your tolerance of the product, dab the moisturizer behind your ears for the first few days.

Minimizing Psoriasis Flare upsDoctors and dermatologists agree that there are things that individuals can do that will help them to prevent or minimize the flare-ups of psoriasis. There are ways to help them live more comfortably with the skin condition and also help initiate better results from their treatments.

The first step for anyone with a disease is to insure that they are doing everything they can do to stay in good health by eating a balanced diet, take in adequate amounts of water, and by getting proper amounts of sleep each night. Getting their bodies into the best health possible can also help them to fight off infection. Infection is one of the triggers for psoriasis.

Minimizing Psoriasis Flare upsKeeping a journal about psoriasis flare-ups and what events, environmental factors or emotions preceded the flare-up (going back 2 or 3 weeks) can aid the patient and the doctor to understand what triggers the psoriasis.

Limit your alcohol consumption because studies show that drinking too much can actually prevent treatment from doing what it is suppose to do. It can also trigger a flare-up. Patients, who are being treated for their psoriasis with the medication methotrexate, should not drink alcohol at all.

We all hate that double-chin that creeps up on is in mid-life….but, is there anything (besides surgery) we can do about it?

Here’s what I’ve found:

1) Lose 10 or 15 pounds. “The single best way to get rid of a double chin is to lose weight,” says Robert Kotler, M.D., a facial cosmetic surgeon and clinical instructor in surgery at the University of California, Los Angeles. “Lots of people come to my office wanting cosmetic surgery. But if they just take off some excess weight, the problem usually diminishes to the point where they don’t need any more help.

2) Get cropped. Long hair draws eyes to your neck–precisely what you want to avoid. Pageboy cuts that curl under the chin are the worst. “The rule is to keep it short, at or above the jawline,” says Kathleen Walas, fashion and beauty director for New York Citybased Avon Products and author of Real Beauty . . . Real Women.

Literally, a rash means the growth of some red bumps on your skin caused by irritation to the skin. As the effect, the skin may become swollen, itchy and bumpy. Generally, skin rashes are not contagious and are triggered by external material such as dust, food, dry air, animal dander, certain fabrics and many more. There are several reasons behind the development of these skin rashes. Some skin rashes are merely because of the dry skin condition, some may be caused by skin allergies or infection, and some may even cause by the growth of fungus on your skin.

Dry skin rashes are the most common rashes among all. If you belong to the category of those having dry skin, then you might have bigger chances of developing skin rashes because being dry, your skin will be easily irritated, especially during the cold, dry months of the year. Prevent dry skin rashes by drinking sufficient water and apply adequate amount of moisturizer. Some dry skin rashes are however, hereditary. In this particular case, external environment does not play an important role in causing it, just in triggering it. In the case of hereditary dry skin rashes, skin becomes extremely itchy and inflamed, causing redness, swelling, cracking, weeping, crusting, and scaling. This type of rashes comes and goes, often for no obvious reason.
