What Conditions, Problems Respond Well To Homeopathic Treatment?

Ailments such as colds, constipation, vomiting, and diarrhea respond well to homeopathic treatment. It can help in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, fibrositis and psoriasis.

A Biography of Samuel Hahnemann

Samuel Hahnemann was the third child [of five] and eldest son of a pottery painter in the porcelain town of Meissen in Saxony. As a child, he showed a remarkable aptitude for study [Cook, 28], excelling both in languages and in science; he was fluent in English, French, Greek and Latin. Even “at the early age of 12 he helped his master to teach Greek,” [Haehl, vol. 1, 13] to other students. Hahnemann was “a pupil of exceptional ability,” [Cook, 24] with “an exceptional talent for languages;” [Haehl, vol. 1, 13] he “was drawn irresistibly towards science and research.” [Haehl, vol. 1, 14]

How Do Homeopathic Medicines Work?

Many of the homeopathic remedies are so diluted that according to the known laws of physics and chemistry, they couldn’t possibly have any effect. Once you get beyond a certain point-24x or 12c -there is probably not even one single molecule of the original active substance remaining. This fact is often pointed to by critics of homeopathy as they dismiss the effect of homeopathy as merely due to placebo effect.

And yet, according to homeopathic doctrine and experience, the more diluted the solution, the more potent it is. Homeopaths contend that the remedies work and they see no reason to stop using them simply because we do not understand how they work. They often argue that pharmacologists cannot explain exactly how most conventional drugs work. For example, even aspirin is not fully understood in terms of how it works, but physicians have no difficulty in recommending its use.
Over the years several theories have been proposed to explain the action on homeopathic potentization.

Hormesis

The effects of microdoses have been known for a long time, and there are a number of examples that support the idea that very diluted concentrations of a substance will have a measurable and sometimes profound effect. Scientists call this phenomenon: hormesis.

Who Was Frederick Hahnemann?

The story of Frederick Hahnemann, son of Samuel Hahnemann, is one of mystery, madness, and genius.

Frederick Hahnemann was born in Dresden, Germany on November 30, 1786. He was always an anxiety to his parents due to his poor health. As a child he suffered from a rickets-like disease that left him high-chested and with a curvature of the spine.

In 1799, the hostility of the apothecaries and physicians drove Hahnemann from Konigslutter. On the road, the Hahnemann family met with a terrible accident in which their large carriage overturned and the entire family was injured. One of the girls’ legs was broken. Frederick’s spine was possibly broken (Hering’s account 1) and his younger baby brother died from his injuries.

It seems the combination of Frederick’s congenital weakness and possible spinal injury left him a hunchback. Although his frame was weak, he had a brilliant mind and mastered many languages and sciences.

He passed his degree in medicine in 1810 at the age of 24 and began the practice of the homeopathic healing arts. In the following year, he was chosen by his father to answer the bitter criticism by Hecker of the first edition of the Organon.

Who Was Dr. Samuel Christian Frederic Hahnemann, M.D.?

Samuel Hahnemann (1755 - 1843) was the founder of Homoeopathy. He established the fundamental principles of the science and art of Homoeopathy.

He is called the Father of Experimental Pharmacology because he was the first physician to prepare medicines in a specialized way; proving them on healthy human beings, to determine how the medicines acted to cure diseases. Before Hahnemann, medicines were given on speculative indications, mainly on the basis of authority without experimental verification.

Hahnemann discovered the remedial powers of drugs and inert substances such as gold, platinum, silica, vegetable charcoal, lycopodium, etc. By preparing the medicines through potentization, these inert and insoluble substances became soluble in alcohol or water and were charged with medicinal force.

Dr. Hahnemann espoused the law of cure known as “Similia Similibus Curentur”, or “Like Cures Like”. This means that a remedy that produces symptoms in a healthy person will cure those same symptoms when manifested by a person in a diseased state. This law of cure has been verified by millions of homoeopaths all over the world since the time of Hahnemann.

Scientific Evidence For Homeopathic Medicine

Most people with a little experience in homeopathy have no doubt that these medicines work, though inevitably they will have some family members, friends, neighbors, and physicians who will be skeptical about it.

One way to deal with these people’s skepticism is to become familiar with research on the efficacy of homeopathic medicines.

There is actually considerably more laboratory and clinical research on homeopathic medicine than most people realize. That said, it must also be recognized that more research is certainly needed, not simply to answer the questions of skeptics but to help homeopaths optimize their use of these powerful natural medicines.

Some skeptics insist that research on homeopathy is mandatory since the exceptionally small doses used do not make sense and there is no known mechanism for action for these drugs. While it is true that homeopaths presently do not know precisely how the homeopathic microdoses work, there are some compelling theories about their mechanism of action (see the discussion in Chapter 1, “The Wisdom and Wonder of Small Doses”).

Using Homeopathic Remedies For Injuries

So without any further ado, what remedies should you have with you on the sports field? We might as well start with Arnica, as, without a doubt, Arnica has almost single-handedly made homeopathy famous! I would say seventy to eighty percent of the time, you’re going to give Arnica for sports injuries; that’s because Arnica is a specific for blunt trauma.

Every homeopath carries Arnica with him (or her) in his (or her) pocket or car or backpack or all three. That’s certainly the case with me; I have Arnica 10M in my pocket, Arnica 30C in my first aid kit in my backpack and Arnica 200C in my car. What can you do with Arnica? Practically anything! Think of it in car accidents, falls, head injuries, any blow, a sore bruised feeling from any cause–even a flu with a sore bruised feeling all over the body.
