Essential Oils of Marjoram and Chamomile help to quell the worry of a mind under pressure and in need of comfort. Camphoraceous and clarifying, yet sweet and reassuring, Marjoram oil is useful for hazy, fretful states of mental fatigue. It helps to settle those who feel they have no one to talk to, and must consequently struggle with their worries on their own. Its also good for those who tend to worry incessantly about others.

Summer is here! and if you are like Al and I you have so much you want to do and things you need to do! The last thing you want is to not be awake and alert. Especially when you are doing any of your tasks.
Driving, of course, being a task you must be mentally aware at all times, especially of everything going on around you.
Of course there are other things you do where you need to pay attention and be alert. (You know, like when you are on the golf course or fishing!! . . . Ok, I’m in summer mode!)
Several Essential Oils not only help you stay alert and focused but may also give you the energizing boost you need to finish.
One of the best known Essential Oils for alertness is Rosemary, Grapefruit and Peppermint. Some others that work well too include Spearmint, Eucalyptus Radiata, Bergamot, Lemon, Lime and other citrus. Other oils that may help include: Basil, Cardamom, Cinnamon, Petitgrain, Black Pepper, Coriander, and Juniper.
Give this Alertness blend a try
Blend all in an amber bottles. Place several drops in any Diffuser. If you are using in your car while traveling apply about 5-6 drops on your car Diffusers pad. Insert into plug in. Diffuse for no longer than 20 minutes in the car.
If diffusing in the home, you can diffuse for longer periods of time as the house has more cubic footage than the interior of any auto.
If you don’t have time to blend some oils, you might want to try one of our energizing blends. Mint Energizing blend is a big favorite. Refreshing blend and Revitalizing blends may also help.
Surprising Alertness Blend
Blend all in a small amber bottles. Then diffuse or if you prefer place in a Personal Inhaler and take several inhalations as often as needed.
Yes, Essential Oils are an important part of any first aid kits and in your travel case too.
Personally, I would also suggest adding Helichrysum .
A quick list of why each oil is useful follows. This list is just the most common reason or uses. There are certainly many, many more uses of each of these oils. Be sure to get a good book on Aromatherapy. One good book is Valerie Ann Worwoods book – The Complete Book of Essential Oils and Aromatherapy. This book provided some of the information for this article. See our Book Review page for other excellent aromatherapy books.
We carry Essential Oils with us wherever and whenever we travel in one of our travel cases. Please, do not leave your Essential Oils in your car. Ideally, if you have a small insulated bag, or cooler, your oils will be much happier in that!! Protecting them from sunlight and excessive heat will prolong their effectiveness and extend their shelf life.
Have a safe and fun time while you travel this summer!

You are all packed and ready to go. The excitement of the long awaited day has begun. Everyone is in their seats and next thing you know “little Emily” says she is not feeling well. She has a lot of nausea and the car has barely started to move yet.
Several things to check and to help with Motion Sickness and nausea include:
Did the person eat a little bit or a lot before getting into the car? Sometimes not eating can cause Motion Sickness too.
One of our sons, always got Car Sick if he didn’t have something to eat, especially in the morning. We usually had to give him a bite to eat before we could take the family out for breakfast!!
Can the person see out in front of the car? For some people, sitting in the part of the car where they can not see the road ahead can make them feel sick to the stomach.
If these things are fine and Motion Sickness and nausea are still present, the number one Essential Oil is a little bit of Ginger . Simply inhale a drop or two of Ginger placed on a tissue or placed in an Inhaler. Some people will respond better to Peppermint or Spearmint. For some Roman Chamomile gives relief.
For those that suffer from chronic Motion Sickness you may want to try breathing in any one oil or a blend of a couple of the above Essential Oils BEFORE getting into the car, train, boat or plane. Inhaling these 30 – 60 minutes before departure and every 15 to 30 minutes while on your trip may make a world of difference in you enjoying your trip.
Other Essential Oils that might help with nausea include Coriander, Cardamom and Fennel . Since each person has different preference and chemical makeup, you may need to do a trial with each of these oils separately (and the ones listed above too) to find out which one or a combination of a couple seem to give you the best relief before and while traveling.
If you get to the point of vomiting you might want to try this recipe.
Mix the oils together in the Carrier Oil, then rub your hands together to warm the oil. Gently massage over the abdomen, afterwards you may want to cup your hands over your face (nose and mouth) and slowly inhale for a few breaths before washing your hands.
