A few of you have been asking for bath and body type herbal recipes, and today I have a few to try out. Do remember, if you have sensitive skin or tend to have Allergies try these out on a small area first. The sugar scrub recipe was asked for too, and it’s a simple scrub that is great for the hands or feet.

Basil Toner

You’ll need:

  • 3 tsp. dried Basil, or handful of fresh, chopped leaves
  • 1 cup boiling water

Pour the boiling water over the Basil leaves in a glass or plastic measuring cup. Steep for 15-30 minutes until cool. Strain and pour into a glass jar with a lid.

To use apply with a cotton ball to your face and neck after cleansing. Keep refrigerated for a month or so. This toner is good for oily skin or Acne.

Thyme and Fennel Cleanser

You’ll need:

  • 2 sprigs fresh Thyme or 1/2 Tbsp. dried
  • 2 teaspoons Fennel seeds, crushed
  • 1/2 cup boiling water
  • 1/2 fresh Lemon

Place the Thyme and Fennel seed in a bowl and pour over the boiling water. Squeeze the half Lemon into the bowl and steep all for 15-20 minutes. Strain, and pour into a jar. Use a cotton pad or cotton ball to cleanse your face daily. Store in the refrigerator. This is gentle so it’s good for normal to slightly dry skin.

Herbal Foot Bath

You’ll need:

Place the Herbs in a glass bowl or jar. Pour over 2 cups of boiling water. Steep for 15-30 minutes. In a tub, basin or large bowl add the salt with warm water–enough to cover your feet. Strain the Herbs out and add that infusion to the tub with the salted water. Soak your feet for 10-15 minutes. Pat dry and use a good lotion or salt scrub.

Easy Sugar Scrubs

You’ll need a small to medium jar, white or brown sugar to fill it near the top, and enough oil to add so the mixture is moist. You can use olive, sweet Almond, or vegetable oil. At this point you can add a 1/2 tsp. of an essential oil or blend of oils. Lavender, rose Geranium, or rose mixed with Rosemary, Lemon or Orange is nice.

If you mix oils they should all total about 1/2 tsp.–not a 1/2 tsp. each. Mix all with a spoon in the jar, cover with the lid and allow to sit at least overnight. The mixture should look “oily” and moistened. If it doesn’t, add more oil.

To use: Scoop a small amount on to your hand and rub your hands and fingers gently with the scrub, not too hard. Rinse with warm water and pat dry. This leaves your hands soft, and is great after gardening!
