Tips for Hair care

October 22nd, 2007

Before stepping into the shower, comb your hair lightly with a wide-toothed comb to untangle knots. This aligns the strands and prevents your getting out of the shower with a lot of knots. Begin at the ends and slowly work your way up. Never try to rip through tangles from top to bottom. You’ll end up with a clump of hair on your comb that could have been avoided if only you’d had some patience!

The temperature of the water you use while washing your hair should ideally not be warmer than room temperature. In fact, the best thing would be to use the lowest temperature you can bear. Too cold for you? Well, hair is not sensitive, so you could at least bend over and give the lower part of your hair a final rinse with cold water.

Why cold water?

Ginger-Apple Anti-Viral Tea

October 22nd, 2007

Ginger helps stimulate a therapeutic Sweat. Studies also show that it helps fight against bacterial infections that may develop as a result of the viral infection. Lemon juice does the same thing, warding off secondary bacterial infections and giving a whopping amount of Vitamin C. Apple cider (and apple cider vinegar), is extremely rich in Minerals and has been employed since ancient times for this reason.

Step One

  • One cup of peeled, chopped and minced fresh Ginger
  • 10 cups of water

Step Two

  • Apple cider (1/2 cup per serving)
  • Lemon juice

Directions Peel and mince the Ginger (a food processor makes little work of this job). Simmer the minced Ginger in 10 cups of water for an hour or so. Strain.

When ready to have a serving place 1/2 cup of the strained Ginger water in a pan with 1/2 cup of apple cider vinegar and a squirt or two of Lemon juice. Heat and serve.

Procedures for diagnosing sciatica

October 22nd, 2007

Diagnostic procedures for Sciatica involve a series of processes that are required to establish the cause behind the pain. Sciatica is normally associated with compression of the Sciatic Nerve due to a slipped or a herniated disc. Degenerative disc disease is a condition that is brought about by the ageing process. The Sciatic Nerve is sometimes pinched by the piriformis muscle that is located deep in the buttocks. Sciatic pain can also be caused by conditions that are not related with disc. Bad postures can also lead to pseudo Sciatica, a pain that is similar to Sciatica.

Physical examination and the medical history of the patient are very important for diagnosing Sciatica. The doctor needs to eliminate normal back pain or lumbago before proceeding for Sciatic Nerve treatment. There is always a possibility that a difference in lengths of the two legs may cause pain in the lower back. Such conditions are easily corrected with a built-up shoe.
