Treatment of obesity – Appetite suppressants

June 15th, 2007

Whatever be the cause, obesity is basically the storage of excess energy that is converted into fats. The natural process of gaining weight is actually nature’s way of protecting against periods of famine and drought. But with development we have now reached an age of abundance. And this innate capacity of the body to store excess fat for later use has turned into a health risk.

Obesity can occur due to many factors other than overeating. These include genetic predisposition, medical conditions, drugs, a poor lifestyle or psychological disorders. Overeating, however, remains the prime factor behind obesity.

Weight loss solutions can help to a large extent. These solutions can range from herbal weight lossprograms to medication or exercise regimes. A herbal weight loss program will suggest the use of Herbs and herbal Teas for reduction in weight. But neither of these options can effectively control the craving that you may have for food. These solutions do not have any options for managing hunger pangs that you may experience during the programs. Some people are quite incapable of handling hunger pangs and can give into craving very easily. And for such people sustaining any weight loss program becomes a nightmare.

Popular Diabetes Treatment Could Increase Your Risk of Heart Problems

June 15th, 2007

In a new report released by the New England Journal of Medicine this week, experts revealed that the use of the popular Diabetes medication Avandia may result in a higher risk of Heart Attack and possibly death. Studies have recently suggested that the more than 6 million people worldwide who are taking the drug could have a 45 percent higher chance of having a Heart Attack.

When it was first introduced into the market 8 years ago, Avandia was seen as a breakthrough drug for its ability to control blood sugar levels. While this new report only heightens serious concerns about the side effects of drugs used to treat serious conditions like Diabetes, it is also working to raise awareness about natural alternatives.

In the wake of these reports, it seems many people are becoming more and more interested in helping their bodies fight disease naturally including herbal and homeopathic medicines.

Native Remedies carries several products that help to manage Diabetes and its symptoms without any major side effects.

The Benefits of Sleep

June 15th, 2007

By Brigid Delaney

LONDON, England (CNN) — It’s a mistake to underestimate the power of sleep. The former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher once proclaimed she slept only four hours a night.

What she didn’t tell us was that years of too little sleep eventually takes its toll on our health and possibly causes premature death.

About 30 percent of British people will experience sleep disorders during their lives, from Insomnia to sleep apnoea, which is linked to Cardiovascular problems.

Many more will experience pervasive tiredness, propping themselves up with caffeine or sugar. Business is thriving for private sleep clinics, which treat an increasing number of people with sleep disorders.

They include those upset by world events such as the Iraq war or professionals who find the stresses of work prevent them “switching off”‘ at night.

While serious sleep disorders such as sleep apnoea sometimes requires medical treatment, so called ‘low level’ sleep disorder such a tiredness or Insomnia affected many more of us, yet they are likely to be untreated.
