Pre-Conception

How To Perform Yoga Exercises

When you have decided to start with your Yoga practice, it is imperative for you to learn how to perform a pose properly. Thus it is advisable for you to find a right teacher who will guide you in the correct manner of performing these poses.

Since yogic exercises involve the static and isometric contraction of the muscles, where the muscles are held in a state of Tension without causing the corresponding body part to move; it is important to note that the stretching or contraction of the muscles should not be done abruptly or suddenly. You should endeavour to reach the final pose as slowly as you can, so that there is a steady rise in the Tension of the muscles. Always reach the final posture slowly through the intermediate postures. Master all these postures slowly one by one.

The movement of each body part should be done under complete control of the muscles exercised. This is achieved only after practicing for a certain period of time. There should be no jerks or violent movements. Each step should be executed easily, smoothly and gracefully. Initially, when you start learning the Yoga, there is a tendency to use muscles not concerned with the specified movement.

But over a period of time with due practice, you can eliminate the unproductive muscular activity. As you progress, you learn to use only the specified muscles for contraction or stretching while the other muscles are kept relaxed.

Avoid rushing into the final position of any posture, unless you have thoroughly mastered the intermediate stages. Always proceed as far as comfortably you can and hold this pose for some time. This will train the required muscles in a few days and thus you can get smoothness and grace. Take caution not to overwork any muscles.

Do not control or restrict your Breathing. If you are sick or absent from your practice for a long time, start slowly and reach the previous level only after some time. At the end of the session, you should feel fresh and relaxed. You must experience the lightness and exhilaration at the end of every session.

You can adjust the duration of various techniques according to your capacity and there should be no exhaustion or Tension.

Mustard Plaster For Arthritis Pain

Here’s an old fashioned remedy that I use to relieve my Arthritis Pains. I make what you call a Mustard plaster.

To do this you need to mix together 2 parts flour with 1 part Mustard powder, then add some water to make a paste. S

pread it on a clean cloth of some sort, fold it in half and press against the skin. Don’t put the salve directly on the skin since it can burn.

You can also use this to loosen phlegm or for Sore Muscles

Make Your Own Potpourri and Sachets

You can use almost anything in your garden to make an aromatic potpourri mixture. Traditionally, potpourri is a mixture of dried flowers and other ingredients, placed in open containers, like small bowls or cups and placed to allow their aroma to delicately scent the room.

Sachets are usually small cloth “Pillows” containing potpourri, which can be used almost anywhere. Sachets have the advantage of being portable, you can place them in drawers, pin them to Pillows, or carry them in your purse wherever you go.

Generally, potpourri ingredients should not be finely ground, Petals of flowers should be lightly crushed. Ingredients such as Cinnamon sticks or Orange peels should be broken into small pieces or finely chopped.

Some flowers that are especially good to use in potpourri are roses, carnations, hibiscus, violets, sunflowers, and lavendar. Some Herbs that work well in potpourri are Chamomile, Lavender, Thyme, Sage and Rosemary. Eucalyptus leaves are a nice addition to any potpourri. You shouldn’t limit yourself to this list however. Experiment, use your imagination and whatever you have at hand.

For all the following recipes, start with bone dry flowers, leaves, Herbs and Spices.

POTPOURRI RECIPES:

Essence of Rose

Ingredients:

Gently combine Petals and leaves in a large bowl. Scatter drops of Rose oil over the mixture using an eyedropper. Stir gently. Place mixture in a brown paper bag lined with wax paper. Fold and seal the bag with a paper clip and leave in a dry, dark, cool place for 2 weeks. Every other day, stir the contents gently to blend and disperse ingredients and scents. Place in glass bowls or candy dishes. Top with small white or pink Rose buds.

Floral 1

Combine 3/4 cup Calamus root, 1/2 cup Caraway seeds, 1/4 cup ground Cloves, 2 cups Lavender flowers, 1 cup Marjoram, 1 cup mint, 2 cups Rose leaves, 1/2 cup Rosemary and 1/4 cup Thyme. Mix well.

Floral 2

Combine

Spice

Combine 1/4 cup orrisroot, 4 cups Lavender flowers, 3 cups Patchouli, 1/4 cup ground Cloves, 1 cup deerstongue leaves and 1/2 cup ground allspice. Add 10 drops oil of Rose, 10 drops oil of Lavender, 12 drops oil of Neroli and 1/4 tsp. oil of Sandalwood. Mix well.

Cassie

Combine 4 cups cassie flowers, 1/4 cup orrisroot powder and 1/2 cup starch. Mix well.

Pine

Combine:

  • 1/2 cup bayberry leaves
  • 1/2 cup snipped Balsam needles
  • 1/2 cup miniature Pine cones
  • 1/2 cup Rose hips
  • 2 tsp Orris Root
  • 2 drops Pine-scented fixative

Mix the bayberry, Balsam, Pine cones and Rose hips in a large bowl. Add the orrisroot and fixative and stir gently. This makes a great Christmas potpourri!

More stuff…

Processed Corn Cob Additive - Put some ground corn cob material (sold as cellulose, or litter material at your Walmart or pet store) in a jar. Add several drops of Essential Oil, place lid on jar and shake. Shake jar about once every day or so for about 10 days. Add it to your potpourri to give body and help hold the scent.

Potpourri Filler - If you don’t have enough dried flowers to make potpourri, or if you just need some filler, remember you can use almost anything in your mixture. Pine cones (whole or just the Petals), bark, leaves, etc. Orris Root is commonly used as a filler/fixative. Another alternative is to buy a “Filler”. A sachet is simply potpourri in a fabric container, such as a small bag or Pillow. Sachets can be made from almost any material. Fabrics that breathe well are best, so that the scent of the sachet can escape into the air. Good fabrics to use are cotton, linen, silk, and muslin.

One very simple idea is to buy old lace handkerchiefs at garage sales or flea markets. Put a few spoonfuls of your potpourri mixture into the center of the handkerchief, draw up the ends, and tie with a ribbon to make a small pouch.

Another simple sachet can be made using any old fabric. Cut a small rectangular strip about 4″ x 11″. Fold in half (wrong side out) and stitch up both sides. Turn inside out. (If you don’t sew, you can use fabric glue instead!) Spoon in potpourri mixture, filling pouch about 1/2 way. Gather at the top of the mixture and tie with a ribbon.

Manifestation is a Powerful Tool For Personal Growth

Manifestation is the results of your thoughts. Sounds simple if you are already a manifestation Student but do you really believe it and live by it.

What we Focus on expands, so what are you manifesting?

Why not stop and think about it, what you are manifesting right now.

How do you feel about what you are manifesting and do you feel like it is your creation?

You may have some doubts about this but you are already an expert at manifesting?

Just look at everything around you and all the experiences that you have been having.

If we can move forward from that belief that we are already creating the things that are in front of us, we can also think that it is possible to change what we are manifesting.

So if manifestation is a given, then how do we change what we are manifesting.

Focus on what you want: Focus on the feelings of what you want and feel positive about it, positive about having it, feel good in your body and emotions.

The opposite of this is to Focus on not having it and that we should have it. This is an important point so think about this for awhile. Think back to the experiences that you have had and how you felt about those things before they were delivered. Think about things that came easy and things that were difficult. Use you own experiences to take this point to a deeper level deeper.

Start to take inspired action towards having what you want. Inspired action means to take action with awareness of how it makes us feel as we move towards having what we want.

Taking action with awareness allows us to know when we are coming across some limiting beliefs and to recognize the negative voice that tells us to stop or change direction.

The simplest method to follow when we hit a negative belief, it to just ignore it and replace it with a positive one. This may take some repetition but it is well worth it.

There are plenty of other techniques for belief change which can be used at a later stage. Starting the ball rolling is the most important thing at first.

Continue to take action with awareness and you will know when you making the decisions that will support what you want. If you get off track, just laugh and get back on again.

Choose what resources you would like to help you and stay aware for their delivery.

Personal growth is a lot about knowing who we really are and using conscious manifestation is a great tool to learn a lot about ourselves. When you master conscious manifestation you will also realize at a deeper level that it was really you who created all those experiences.
